Ultrasound-guided glueing of the vein (VenaSeal)

What is ultrasound-guided glueing of the vein (VenaSeal)?

Similar to ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, we use a fine needle and catheter to inject a solution into the problematic veins.

In this instance, we use VenaSeal, a glue-like substance that causes the veins to stick together and collapse permanently, preventing blood from flowing through it.

This helps in reducing the pressure and build-up of deoxygenated blood in the legs that would otherwise pressurise and stain the skin.
